Netivot
The Netivot Israel Leadership Initiative
Do you want to explore Israel's importance to the Jewish people and to your own identity? Join us for Harvard's Netivot Israel Leadership Initiative (NILI). Netivot is a yearlong extracurricular experience (including a 16 day trip to Israel during December break) designed to engage a diverse group of Jewish undergraduate students at Harvard in exploring the meaning of being Jewish.
Netivot is also designed to help you become a more effective leader with a personal mission and an ability to work with others to achieve that mission.
Most Jews struggle to figure out how and why being Jewish is important to them and what role Judaism should play in their lives. Unfortunately, many go through this struggle alone. As a Netivot Fellow, you will be part of a small community of students and teachers exploring these questions together. No Jewish knowledge or affiliation is required to be selected as a Netivot Fellow.
No matter what kind of Jewish background you come from, no matter how much Jewish education you have, you will find the program interesting and challenging. The community will succeed because of the interaction among people with different viewpoints and commitments.
