Birthright and Beyond

Our summer 2022 trip has capacity for 30 participants, available on a first come, first served basis. The registration deadline is March 1st, but we cannot guarantee that spots will still be available by that time. Complete your registration now to avoid disappointment!

Registration for Birthright and Beyond is a multi-step process:

Step 1: Create a Birthright Account

Visit freeisraeltrip.org/harvard to create your account in the Birthright application portal.  Using this link automatically populates your trip choice with the Harvard trip, and a Harvard Hillel staff member will be in touch to support you in completing your registration.

Step 2: Fill out your application online

Log in to your account and add information about your passport details, Jewish background, prior Israel experience (if relevant), medical background, Covid-19 vaccination, and health insurance policy, as well as supporting documents.

Step 3: Interview and deposit

Once your online application is complete, schedule a short interview over coffee (or over Zoom) with Mikhael, our Director of Israel Programs. This is a required part of the application process and may involve answering questions to help verify your eligibility, but this is primarily an opportunity to get to know you!

Either before or after your interview, you must submit a refundable $250 deposit to Birthright Israel through the online application portal.  You can reclaim your deposit after the trip is over.  (For more information about the deposit, see our FAQs.)

Step 4: Accepting your trip assignment

Once you have completed your interview and submitted your deposit, you will be formally offered a spot on our Birthright trip.  (This will be sent to the email address associated with your Birthright account from israel@hillel.org. Please check your spam filters to ensure that you receive emails from this address!)  Once you accept this assignment, your place on the Birthright trip is secured.

Step 5: Extending your trip to register for Beyond

We expect all Harvard students on the trip to participate in both elements of the program: Birthright and Beyond.  Since Birthright automatically books your return flight to coincide with the end of their program, it is necessary to reschedule your return flight no earlier than the final day of the Beyond program.  (You are welcome to request a return flight as late as three months after your date of arrival in Israel.)

This is done by submitting an extension request form at forms.giltravel.com/br/.  A representative of the Gil Travel Group will contact you via email to confirm your new flight details.  Upon receipt, forward your new flight details to mikhael@hillel.harvard.eduOnce we have your new return flight details, your place on Beyond is secured.

Participants are also expected to attend an orientation program on campus to be scheduled approximately two months prior to departure.
